From locally owned specialty stores to some of the most eclectic collections of antique, thrift and consignment shops, Newport News offers a refreshingly unique shopping experience – something not found in chains and sprawling malls these days!
It’s here that you’ll find shopping that is both charming and personal. At “Rooms, Blooms & More,” for example, owner Karan Mulkey will not only help you pick out antiques and high-end crystal for your dining room, but arrange the flowers for your table and pick out the paint colors for your wall.
“This is the place to come if you want to feel welcomed,” Mulkey says of “Rooms, Blooms & Moore,” which opened in 2002.
Three years ago, the business was featured in Southern Living magazine, which noted “The shop is in the charming World War I-era Hilton Village, home to locally owned shops and restaurants.”

Also found in Hilton Village is “Village Antiques,” an 8,000 square-foot store with a focus on woodwork and vintage home decor items. Owner Robert Jump says he has attended auctions since he was a child – and “Village Antiques” has an eclectic collection to show for it!
Located along Warwick Boulevard, Historic Hilton Village is also home Design & Consign, the Fine Arts Shop, Hilton Village Goldsmith, Pandora's Bead Box, Plantiques, Silverman Furs – to name just a few – plus several dining hotspots, including Circa 1918 and 99 Main.
Not far from Hilton Village, you’ll find “Anderson’s Home & Garden Showplace,” which is so much more than a garden center! Walk through these doors and you’ll be pleasantly surprised to find a boutique with trendy women’s clothing, shoes, handbags, jewelry, accessories and more, plus a café famous for its homemade chicken salad – tossed with dried cranberries and pecans and served on a tasty grilled croissant.
“We like to think of ourselves as ‘the adult alternative to the mall,’ and our patrons love it,” said the garden center’s owner.
City Center at Oyster Point and Port Warwick are two more shopping areas with a neighborhood “vibe,” both showcasing specialty retailers with designer shoes, gifts and collectibles, jewelry, men’s and women’s clothing, high-end pet gifts and spa treatments.
At “Walk This Way Shoes” in Port Warwick, you’ll find ladies accessories and shoes by Diane Von Furstenberg, Eileen Fisher, Kate Spade and Stuart Weitzman, to name just a few!
Port Warwick’s “The Pineapple Patch” brings shoppers the latest fashions in jewelry, accessories, home décor, along with a few furniture pieces. The shop’s gift area includes pineapple items, purses, picture frames, glassware, candles, wreaths and more!

Another gem in Port Warwick is “P.S. Paperie,” a paper lover’s dream come true! They offer a wide selection of stationery, as well as loose handmade papers, journals, note pads and fine writing instruments like Cartier, Visconti, Delta, Conklin and Think. They also carry a large selection of John Wind’s “modern vintage jewelry.”
